The Big Creek Lake Watershed Project, along with Polk Soil and Water Conservation District and Iowa Learning Farms held an appreciation day for the Big Creek Lake on Saturday, June 2. Big Creek Lake was built in 1972 as part of a flood control project. Celebrating the lake’s 40th anniversary, an event was held at the lake offering information about the project and its progress. Other activities included a fishing clinic, pontoon boat tours of the lake, the Conservation Station and fish on display that are found in Big Creek Lake.
Watershed coordinators Sean McCoy and Zach DeYoung posted photos of the event on their website: http://bigcreeklake.org/blog/. Check out the photos of the day’s activities and explore their website to learn more of the Big Creek Lake Watershed improvement project.
