This week, April 26-May 3, is Soil and Water Conservation Week in Iowa. This marks the anniversary of the 1939 law that established a state agency and organized our 100 Soil and Water Conservation Districts.

In a news release from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS), Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey states, “Soil and Water Conservation Week is a great opportunity to highlight the efforts all Iowans can do on their property, whether in town or on the farm, to prevent soil erosion and protect water quality in Iowa.”

There are many events across the state scheduled this week to highlight Iowa’s important natural resources. Visit the IDALS website to see what’s going on and to read the news release about the week.
