Cover Crops, Cows, and Conservation

As harvest draws to a close and the days grow shorter, I think we can all celebrate what an amazing, mild fall this has been. We’ve had absolutely gorgeous weather for completing the grain harvest, and absolutely gorgeous weather for fall cover crop growth, as well!

Here at Iowa Learning Farms, we partnered with our friends at Practical Farmers of Iowa to put on a cover crop workshop in Independence on Tuesday of this week. We had a very engaging dialogue and lots of excellent questions from the farmers and landowners that came out to enrich their knowledge of cover crops, grazing, and conservation practices in general. Here’s a selection of the questions that attendees asked, framing the discussion at the field day:

Curious about integrating or expanding the scope of cover crops in your farming operation? Do you have questions like those above? Now is the perfect time to attend an Iowa Learning Farms field day and learn from farmers in your area how they are making cover crops work – plenty of time to plan for next year!

We have three more field days coming up next week, and there’s still time to RSVP to attend.
